DIY TEXTILE CABLE

Lately I tend to forget about my textile projects like the winter jacket. That's why I decided to give them a place in my little room where I can see them; a sort of laundry line made from braided steel wire. You can easily get a braided steel wire and hooks at the DIY shop.

This afternoon I visited my parents in Nijmegen (a little old town in Holland). We went for a bike ride through the city and came across this cosy little coffee bar with all kinds of different seats and tables. The coffee bar even has a furry regular guest; Bert the big red cat.

RE-OPENED THE SHOP

After this beautiful summer I re-opened the shop. As you can see the assortment is rather small. My head is full of new ideas for designs. I hope to have them in shop soon, however it's been busy around here so it will probably take some time!

RIJKSMUSEUM

Last Friday, as a late birthday gift for my brother, we visited the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It was amazing to see the pieces of Dutch art through the centuries. I always love to think back about my lessons in art history when wandering around in a museum. It keeps on being something special the moment I see a piece of art that I've discussed during art history class. Unfortunately we could not manage to see all of the museum, so I have to come back one day. The rijksmuseum is definetely something you should have seen, not only because of its tremendous collection of art but also because of the amazing building!

Rijksmuseum - Rembrandt

Rijksmuseum - De Stijl

Rijksmuseum - Masks - J.P. Kleiweg de Zwaan

Rijksmuseum - Mondriaan Dress Yves Saint Laurent

PROJECT | WINTER JACKET

Although summer is still around us I continued making my new jacket for upcoming winter. I started a while ago but unfortunately the graduation project took all of my time so I had to leave this aside. As you can see the inner part is starting to build up. Tomorrow I will look for some strings and buttons at the weekly textiles market that I can use to shape the jacket.

Winter Jacket - layers.

Hope you’ve had a nice weekend!

CHINA

It has been a while since I updated the blog because my graduation sucked up all of my time. At the start of July I finished my Masters degree in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Eindhoven, the Netherlands!
After that I went on a study trip to China for three weeks. It was amazing to be warmly welcomed by different companies, a factory and universities. Furthermore I was intrigued by the cultural differences and the beautiful nature. I hope to visit China again some time. For more stories about the trip see this blog.

BAKING | 'GEVULDE SPECULAAS'

Baking 'Gevulde Speculaas'

Baking 'Gevulde Speculaas'

I started this weekend by baking 'gevulde speculaas', a Dutch spiced cookie filled with almond paste. Baking cookies and cakes makes me feel very relaxed and clears my mind, just mixing all the ingredients whilst thinking of nothing.
The Gevulde Speculaas turned out to be delicious! The various spices like cinnamon, ginger and pepper make it very tasty. Have a nice weekend.
